2013 Arts Festival

       2013 Rengstorff House Arts Festival

 
 
                                    Dedicated to the Memory of Dave Brubeck



August 4, 2:00 Parhelion Ensemble - New on the scene, including Merit-Scholars from CSMA, these kids really rock! An eclectic group (trumpet, flute, violin, keyboard, percussion) leaning primarily towards jazz, they span a wide variety of genres including swing, latin, classical, funk, pop, rock, fusion, (post)-bop, and free jazz - all a with a strong contemporary and experimental bent.


August 11, 2:00 Small Town Therapy - Local Grammy-nominated guitarist, Adam Roszkiewicz and violinist, Lief Karlstrom bring their innovative new jazz/rock/country music on guitar, violin, and mandolin to the gardens. Maybe they will play Lief's new Cats,Dogs and Tambourines!
 
August 18, 2:00 Mo-Chi Quartet - Led by trumpet/flugelhorn artist, John Worley, this quartet features a blend of jazz fused with original compositions by Mo-Chi members, traditional Japanese folk melodies and blues.
 
August 25, 2:00 Trio Organica -This Debussy trio instrumentation (flute, viola, and harp) brings a fresh sound to the classical repertoire along with a jazz tribute to Dave Brubeck.
 
Fine art by local artists including works in watercolor and oil as well as photography and collage will be featured during the month-long show in the House. Viewing hours are 11:00-5:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. Meet the artists at a Reception in the house on August 1, 5:00-7:00. The festival runs July 31 through September 1.

    Elegant Dinner Drawing

    The Friends of "R" House are selling door prize tickets for a elegant, chef prepared dinner at the Rengstorff House. There will be two winning tickets drawn. Each will be for dinner seating for six. Winners, and their guests, will be greeted with champagne and hors d'oeuvres; treated to an elegant 7 course dinner; enjoy wine pairings and a finale of port and chocolate. All served by in the elegance of the Rengstorff House dining room by an historically costumed staff.

    Tickets can be purchased at the Rengstorff House - at the Holiday Open House, December 6, 2012. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. or by check, payable to the Friends of "R" House and mailed along with a self addressed stamped envelope to the Friends of "R" House at 3070 N. Shoreline Blvd. Mountain View, CA 94043. Your tickets will be mailed back to you.

    It's begining to look a lot like a Victorian Christmas

    Well, it's that time of the year again.  The air has a bite to it and the desire to find ourselves huddled in front of a glowing fireplace with family and friends has beckoned to us all.  We once again invite you all to be apart of the Friends of "R" House family as we once again deck the halls for this special time of year. 

    Don't be left out in the cold this holiday season.  Come spend an evening at the Rengstorff House at our annual Holiday Open House.  This years open house will be held on Thursday December 6, 2012 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm  Come and enjoy an evening at the Rengstorff House like you've never seen it before. Experience this beautiful Italianate Victorian dressed in all its holiday finery. Join in singing Christmas carols, listening to the reading of A Christmas Carol and have your spirits filled with holiday cheer thanks to a visit from Father Christmas. We invite you to attend this special evening with us while enjoying a festive array of goodies and a hot cup of cider. This is a free event. No reservations required.

    Halloween Never Ends - At The Rengstorff House

    Halloween Never Ends - Where history and huntings meet. Come join the Friends of "R" House for a fun and spooky event. Are you interested in 19th century history? Are you intrigued by all things spooky? If either of these appeal then please come spend an evening with us.

    Dates: Friday November 2 and Saturday November 3

    Tour Times: Friday 7 - 10:20 PM
                         Saturday 7 - 10:40 PM
                         Tours depart every 20 minutes.
